Disabling engines in Center of Thrust

Is there a way (stock or mod) to disable engines in VAB so they cant be seen in Center if Thrust view. I want to make vertical-take-off-ship-thing, that also has main engines. I would need this to balance craft properly.

A quick check shows me I can right click and set an engines thrust to zero and it moves the thrust indicator, so I think that's what you're looking for

You can also put them in a different stage, I think it only shows COT for the bottom stage. Drag the stages around to switch (just don't forget to put them back)

EDIT: (That might be RCS Build Aid though, give it a try)

I use the method sal_vager mentions for designing VTOL planes. Makes for some comedic fails when i forget to tweak the thrust back up.

Thanks guys for fast replies! Back in my days there were no option for setting engines thrust to zero I had small (a year?) break in KSP and I juststarted playing again with fresh ideas and enthusiasm.

I can second this as a more convenient approach. RCS build aid is handy mostly anyway - but it takes the engines of first (lowest) stage and shows you the thrust and turning effect you can expect - full and empty.

otherwise yeah, sal_vager has the stock solution for you
