First mission to Eeloo.

Officer Xannari here, and today, I will be flying my first mission to Eeloo! This is also a great opportunity to test an experimental craft, apparently holding so much Delta-V that it doesn't require docking or any of that lame stuff. That's right, first mission to Eeloo, and a ballsy one at that! Without further adieu, let us begin the countdown!

Oh, before I forget, here is our rocket on the launchpad:

Like I said, this is totally experimental, and we have brought along with us some Kethane just in case we need some extra Delta-V. We wont be updating next until we're in orbit.

Which of course for you guys is a matter of milliseconds, but for me is a whole 4 minutes. We still have buttloads of fuel left, and with that, lots of that sweet Delta-V. A lot of you might think it's a good idea to switch to the Nuclear engines right now, and just do manual fuel transfers, but the problem is that we wont be able to maneuver properly. Through a simulation recently conducted, we would be slamming head on into Kerbin by making a maneuver into interplanetary space, so that's out of the question.

As we leave the Kerbin sphere of influence, we take a good look at the planet before getting too far away. After all, it's the last of it they'll see for several years. It's also the last they'll see of you...

Plane%2Bchange.png

A quick plane change puts us on a matching inclination with Eeloo, which will ultimately allow us to go later in our lives!. Turns out we actually have to wait a while. I can't imagine doing this in real time.

After a bit of finagling with nodes, we got an encounter. This is the one I found that requires the least amount of Delta-V. Speaking of Delta-V, we don't have much left in the skipper engine, so we may have to use the lander for trimming. That cuts into out fuel supply, however don't forget about that Kethane.

And thank god we had it to! We actually ran out of fuel and had to use the Kethane converter. I had to balance the fuel to oxidizer ration by hand, and in real time as best as I could (I didn't do a very good job, let's be honest), and it left us with the Delta-V we needed to make a final push to Eeloo. Now it's time to play the waiting game! I think I'll go make a grilled cheese while this plays out at 1,000,000x time warp. Yeah, it takes that long. Anyways, I'm hungry, so I'll be back in a while.

Jool.png

Something interesting I found: We can see Jool from here! It may be a bit hard to see, I'll zoom in with the telescope. Here's what I see:

I see the arrow had followed... Oh well. At least Jool's visible now.

With this, we will stop updates for now (I'm just getting tired. Running on 3 hours of sleep for 21 hours so far). Come back tomorrow for mission updates!

Mission logs primary: Xannari

Timestamp 42027154.5.8

Updates will resume here.

Aggresion.png

...There's a reason for me leaving. I was here for a straight 40 minutes. Anyway, we got to our encounter, and I thought to myself: "This is experimental, so why not just be aggressive?" Thus, we did this.

And that was a bad plan. I couldn't take any shots of anything in between this. I realized I wasn't landing on a Kethane deposit, so I had to correct that, and then heavily slow down as I realized we were much closer to the ground than I thought! Slowing down and landing this in that scenario was a beast, but I was able to do it nonetheless, and now you see the surprise we brought with us; the Rover!

This little guy has proven useful wherever I put him! He's gonna go around and collect all the fascinating science Eeloo has to offer.

The mission updates will have to cut here. Sorry that this one is really short, but I need some time to rove around off camera, and after that we need to wait for the launch window back to Kerbin. With this little amount of Delta-V, we can't afford any mistakes! (We do have the Kethane reserves still, but they're empty. Thankfully we can mine for some where we landed.)

Do you play on your nokia 3310? damn these pics are tiny

Ha! Okay, that one actually got me. I guess I'm in a joking mood. I have been watching Emile's past videos... Anyway, thanks a lot! Hope to see you on the final return!

(I honestly can't find out how to make them larger. This is as big as they get for me)
