Can someone PLEASE explain this to me... (Reputation related)

Recommended Posts

So... it's the third time i'm starting over trying to get this balanced... the first time i got 10k science using politics with a single testing mission... the second time the same thing but was left with no money... now i'm trying to do it balanced... first get as much reputation as possible so i get the best contracts... then use policies to get the bank balance →∞, which doesn't bother me... and then try to get science but in a balanced way... after those 2 failures and the current "test" i still don't understand how this thing works... I have an example that is exactly what i would like to be explained if anyone may... How does this work? Earned around 1k reputation, only actually gave me about 150????? I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking...

I'm pretty sure that the rep system works on a scale of 0-1000 (zero may not be the min, I don't remember), where it is impossible to get to 1000 reputation, in a similar manner to how it is impossible to reach the speed of light or possibly how income tax brackets work-- the higher the rep, the less of it is actually added to total rep. So, if you have 0 rep and you get 1000 from a contract, the first 100 will be added with no penalty, the next 100 rep to 200 will be taxed by 10% (it will take 110 rep to result in an increase of 100), etc.

Got it... don't like that feature, but at least I understand it now, so if i want to, in a near future, exchange reputation and money... so get half of the rep earn and give me that in money, it would be best to do it as soon as possible, as it will cost me less "tax" to recover 500 rep when i'm at 0, than when i'm at 800...

Thank you!

(btw, how do i change the status to answered?)

I'm sad. I couldn't figure out how to apply the Lorentz Factor to this :(. I need to stop sucking at calculus, logic, and/or math in general.

I probably was using the wrong formula as well.
