Cargo Bays can't attach! Please Help!

Hi all, just wondering why the new cargo bays-amongst other parts-refuses to attach to the side of my craft, even though the fuel tanks can. This is quite annoying, and I am wondering if this intentional. the only mk 2 parts that will attach to the side are the fuel tanks...

Some parts only attach to a stack (i.e. node-to-node) and can't attach radially. This can be circumvented using Editor Extensions mod, which can force radial attachment for all parts, but I'm not sure how it will look and if it's gonna work well after launch.

It is intentional. I suspect the exact reason for this would be to avoid some potential placement errors whereby the cargo bay doors could be obstructed.
