SiliconPyro
Is it possible to use an XBOX 360 controller (which I have working fine with Wondows) with KSP? I\'m sure I could map buttons to keyboard keys, but would the analog sticks work properly? That would make flight/landing so much easier.
umter
Hi,I once mapped an xbox controller for a pc game using a program called X-Padder. It was free to download as far as I can remember, have a little looksee! http://xpadder.com/For ksp, I use a cheap joystick bought from a local PC retailer, around £25 and it handles like a dream! You can map custom keys for the joystick.Let me know if you need any help!
Tiberion
I play pretty much exclusively with an XBox 360 controller and Xpadder (5.3 - the older free version)The main problem is that is doesnt recognize the shoulder paddles, so I have those mapped to 2 keys (used to be the brackets, but that is used for vessel swapping, now its ; and \' I think) - then I map those keys to yaw, so it works pretty much like a joystick would.Top shoulder buttons are thottle, right stick is RCS translation, up and down on Numpad is RCS fwd and back, and so on. BarryCarlyon
@semininja does KSP now recognise the thumbsticks?Must plug mine in and give it a whirl...Update: No joy with thumbstick recognition on Mac with Tattieboogie\'s driver.
Mynorus
Is there a free version that works with windows 7?
Tiberion
Is there a free version that works with windows 7?XPadder 5.3 is free and works on Windows 7. its what I use.Semi: KSP doesn\'t recognize the shoulder triggers or the D-Pad, so I have to map them to keyboard keys. Everything else, including the regular shoulder buttons and both sticks + their click buttons do work.
Mynorus
Thanks tiberion. Probably not the place to ask, but I download it and open it, like any other file, but it says that the only supported OS\' are XP, 2000, and Vista. (Oh god, don\'t even get me started on Vista...) semininja
Strange that the game doesn\'t always recognize the controller; for me, it showed up just fine, as long as it was plugged in before the game was started. There\'s some strangeness in the trigger axes, because they read as separate axes, but they each have half of the same range (they can be mapped separately, but one will have the top half and the other the bottom half of the range). BarryCarlyon
From what I\'ve read it seems to work better on Windows with the official microsoft drivers and better on the wired controller as apposed to the wireless one.And then its just messy on the Mac. Reads buttons fine but no thumbstick or trigger axes.I\'ll test it on my Windows machine when I get a chance.Worth noting that on windows make sure you have the V1.1 version of the drivers (it supports voice too V1.1 is latest IIRC).Also their is likely a difference between using a Xbox controller and a Windows live games controller which only works on computer as apposed to xbox + computer. Check the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for..' and select Windows XP SP3.Should work fine then.semi: Yeah I think the triggers are recognized as separate, which makes them useless for how I wanted to use them, so I just remapped them so I can use them as rudders/yaw (and they function as buttons when I use it with older games
