Asteroid Question

Is there a special way to track asteroids? I keep getting "Unknown Objects" but have yet to have an actual tracked asteroid. This makes it kinda impossible to plan missions for them

click on the unknown object and look down on the bottom left in the tracking center, there should be a button to track said unknown object.

Heard often about Astroids in KSP, but are there comets as well (with eccentric orbits, compered to elliptical orbits of astroids). Maybe a MOD?

I know there are mods that change the orbits of asteroids, but there is nothing like a comet it the stock game, and I don't know of any mods to give them the visual appearance of a comet.

There is Eeloo though that is the closest to a mega-commet I suppose
