Helicopter Necromancy

I came across this project and was quite surprised that it had been resurrected.

Back in the 60s Piasecki tried this concept out as the 16H Pathfinder and even tried to talk the military into modding the Cobra and Apache helicopters like this.

There where others like the Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne as well, but I never thought I would see it again. It completed it's phase 1 testing back in 2008 and I can't find if there was any phase 2.

I know the vehicle was not selected to participate in the Future Vertical Lift program, so it may well be in storage now.

I feel the new additions bring a little more balance to the overall design - it is just that you are not used to it at all. Then again, I have always had a predisposition for functional technology and things that show their nature. If something shows that it means business, I tend to like it.

I love helos. For all intents and purposes, it shouldn't fly, helicopters don't want to fly. But they do and most of the time, gracefully.

The only reason they do fly is because they're so ugly the ground pushes them away in disgust... :D

The only helicopter i really like is the UH-1 Huey.
