Time Skip

I am not sure if this has already been suggested but I would like to see something like a date skip.

You could input a date and the date would skip ahead moving all the planets and on-rail ships to the correct position for the date. This would help as you wouldn't have to time warp to wait for transfer windows.

There could be a data base of dates for transfer windows on the KSP wiki and all you would have to do is type in the date and skip ahead time.

I can see how this might cause problems with ships mission SoI changes and collisions but perhaps a warning system could be implemented to stop this.

What do you guys think?

The just need Kerbal Alarm Clock. Time warp is fine, it's already pretty fast and it's easier to control.

10 minutes real time? At max warp?

I can't say I've ever waited that long.

A higher timewarp would fix that and be useful for Eeloo missions and such.

It's not just for transfer windows, also skipping to SoI changes that can be years ahead. The problem with higher time warp is that it might be too easy to overshoot a node or SoI change.

As opposed to timeskip that instead of might overshoot an SOI change is guaranteed to skip SOI changes?

I see what you mean. I just thought of it as a way to minimise down time.

Make a Rover or a ship with landing struts.

Land it on Kerbin a few feet away from the space station.

Select that ship, and now time warp to max.

Time should fly right by.

I'm not privy to how KSP executes code but I think that the larger the acceleration is, the less accurate SOI transitions are going to be. I think that your best bet is to use Kerbal Alarm Clock to safeguard those, and then as Miro pointed out, use max time acceleration.

If maximum time warp isn't fast enough for you, you could always get my mod (see sig) and boost the warp rates. It's got its own time-skip methods or it can work with Kerbal Alarm Clock

I just don't like sitting and waiting during the time warp and not doing anything. I suppose I could just browse the forum while waiting.

This! I use this mod and it's great! Sometimes I have no patience to wait 5,10,15 minutes, so now I don't have to. It also comes in handy for the moons with ridiculously slow warp speed limits (Looking at you Gilly!). I keep my max warp at 500,000x and I get to any other planet pretty quick.
