[1.0.4] Endurance (from Interstellar) [DISCONTINUED]

Ha I messed up enough times with the first implementation. Think I hit my quota. Just due to the weird angles of the windows I couldn't find a good spot for one. You can however double click on the screens above TARS (or SCOTT) and get a backwards facing view of the cabin.

I was thinking about that, but then you wouldn't be able to get the kerbals out while it's docked.

You can transfer the crew.

I would recommend launching separately and docking since launching the whole thing and then landing more than one of the craft on a planet could incur the wrath of the nullreferenceexception bug.

Shryq, do you think you could scale the ranger down another 10% and maybe add some hidden RCS thrusters in the main body to help with forward/backward translation? That'd make docking a lot more intuitive.

I was actually thinking about doing that. I can hide The RCS on the inside. Right near the center of gravity, and then turn down the other RCS to next to nothing.

As far as engine effects go, I was trying to do an emissive for the main engines, but the islands in the UV are so close together, and the resolution so low that I couldn't get a good mapping at all. I could be doing it wrong though. IDK. Benjee how did you get the effects for the main engines on the Endurance?

Since resolution's the issue it might be best to create a new texture for the engines and remap the UVs. The only texturing I did on the engines really was to bake the ambient occlusion and then multiply that over a dark grey colour, which should be pretty simple to do. YOu can just use the 'smart UV project' option for unwrapping. For the emissive on the Endurance engines I just placed lights inside the engine bells and baked the diffuse to a new texture.
