4K UHD support

Recommended Posts

KSP version - 0.25 tried both 32 and 64 bit for this issue.

I just got a new monitor for my system. Its a Samsung U28D590 28" UHD screen. When I tried KSP I kept getting an error message about screen resolution. To ensure it wasn't a mod related issue I've done a clean install without mods. When I try to start the game I get a black screen. I'm unable to alt- tab out of it. I can open the task manager though. When I do I get the KSP launch window. The game is frozen though. I've tried waiting different lengths of time before opening the task manager. The loading bar does move. I've also tried running the game in windowed and full screen mode. I've tried changing both the screen resolution and the game resolution. I keep getting the same black screen.

Check out this unity forum thread

In particular, these two posts by the user @Dreamora

unity handles them as any other engine: it doesn't touch it, its your gpu that will suffer from it, unity has nothing to do with that at all clear.png
It depends on the hardware, texture support, VRAM thats available etc is a pure hardware aspect (aside of what big kahuna mentioned, where you could use larger textures with smaller virtual sizes).

So if someone had problems with such a texture then it would be cause the hardware does not support it (would need to be a pretty old one) or because it ran out of graphics ram

I cannot view the system log, so I cannot see whether your GPU support 4K viewing.

Hope this helps,

ToTheMun

Ravihn, did you try windowed mode? (Alt + Enter) or alternatively edit settings.cfg and look for

FULLSCREEN = True

set FULLSCREEN to "False" and make sure that width and height are correct...

Maybe that works?

Also it would be interesting to see your output_log.txt

namely this part -> desktop: ****x**** **Hz; virtual: ****x**** at 0,0

* is variable stuff, the question is, does unity see your resolution and refresh correctly?

If all that does not work, try making a shortcut to ksp.exe and add this -force-opengl
