Kerbal Voices & Speech

Recommended Posts

I may be wrong, but I'm not aware of any audio for voices in the game. (EDIT: one exception is the noises made by Gene Kerman in the Contracts screen - not really talking tho)

I think most Kerb voices in Squad-released videos have been altered by playing ordinary voices in reverse and slightly accelerating them. If you have any audio-editing software you should be able to do this. If not Audacity is free and would do the job.

Alternatively, you might find the Chatterer mod has something you can use.

I've read multiple times in the past that Kerbish (Kerbalese? Kerbal-talk?) is reversing Spanish speech. So if you want dead-accurate Kerbish, then I would recommend busting out Google Translate or a Spanish-to-English dictionary.

However, the Chatterer mod, I know, simply reverses speech, so you can get away with just reversing English speech too.

By suggesting Google Translate, do you mean to record text-to-speech and reversing it? Also, how do you reverse an audio clip, can you do it in iMovie and Premier Pro? And how do I get the sounds out of Chatterer?

Download the mod, Go to sounds within mod folder, go to a chosen type and then cabcom (I think)

I don't know iMovie and Premier Pro, but like The_Rocketeer said, when it comes to editing audio I can really recommend Audacity. Let's you record, reverse, convert... you name it. And it's free.

Another vote for Audacity.  Easy to use and free.  With a bit of experimentation, recording your own voices will alow you the most freedom when it comes to intonation etc, not to mention the satisfaction of knowing its all your own work. Hope it works out well and I look forward to seeing your results
