Steam KSP Crashes on first attempt at launch

KSP Version: Newest version on steam Windows 8.1 64-bit

What Happens: Game crashes when launched

Mods / Add-Ons: All Stock

Steps to Replicate:

1) Install KSP on steam

2) Launch KSP via steam

Result: Game will crash.

Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files:

- Tried reinstalling game.

- Tried restarting computer and steam.

- Tried verifying game cache on steam.

Seems as though you are running out of memory on the initial launch... rather odd. Could you please post your system specs, for example your CPU, the amount of RAM you have, etc.

It looks like you have enough memory, but it also looks like you're on a laptop. I don't know if that particular Intel graphics card shares memory space, but that's pretty common for the intel laptop graphics sets. You can free up some memory from KSP by trying the following, and maybe that'll let the game load.

Edit the settings.cfg file and find the line that says "TEXTURE_QUALITY". Make it say "TEXTURE_QUALITY = 1" and give it a try. Make sure you edit the settings.cfg file with a plain text editor like notepad.

It might be a good idea to also ensure that your power saving mode is set to High Performance to ensure that the graphics card is being allowed to run as much as needed.
