NOTE: This station uses mods. However, I am open to stock modules too, so you do not need to download any of the mods I use.

Without further ado, I present to you a project involving the whole forums, or atleast whoever want's to participate.

Before we get to station building, I have a poll based on where we should put the station. The further away it is from Kerbin, the harder it will be to put it in and other modules in orbit. However it will be easier to gain science. Yes, that's right, we are using science as points. However, we have all the parts unlocked. Science is just used as a points system. So, I'll be putting a poll up which will let you vote.

I will design very few modules peronally, one being the core, and some others I feel are necessary.

11-15-2014:

UPDATE 1: We have a stunning amount of contributers. If anyone wants to supply a powerful booster, that'd be great! I may add support to FusTek and ExtraPlanetary Launchpads.

UPDATE 2: LKO it is! I'm launching the station core up now.

UPDATE 3: The core is now in orbit. Took a few tries to make a really crappy booster that finally got the core into orbit. It has 6 docking ports, 1 on the bottom, 1 on the top, and 4 on the side. Unfortunately, I forgot to put on transmitters to recieve science. We will fix that later. For now, Our two brave kerbalnauts, Bill and Bob are up on the station keeping things running. I didn't exactly realize how fast 8 photovaltaic solar panels could charge the core. It would be nice to have a module to store power though.

UPDATE 4: Kethane and Extraplanetary Launchpad mods now supported!

11-28-14:

Update 5: Hehe, I kind of forgot about this project... Sorry... And due to high request, it's now completely stock.

EDIT: What should we name the station? Suggest names, and I'll choose one I like most. For now I'm naming it KSP Station.

Station right now: (2 modules)

If you contribute a module, I'll save it to the VAB and name it after your forum username.

We need the following parts to start off. Post here and tell me if you want to contribute to one or more.

2 habitation modules

3 science modules

1 core (DONE)

2 power modules

Powerful boosters are also needed.

CURRENT MODULES:

  1. Core - Contains 8 2x3 solar panels, 2 kerbals, 2 large monoproppellant tanks, and 6 docking ports.

Maybe around Laythe? Or Gilly, because then you can have EVA excursions.

I thought about further out bodies too, and Laythe no doubt would be cool. However, those bodies are simply put too far out to be a good place to build a station around. Gilly's atmosphere is too weak to hold a station I'm assuming. However, we could use the station to construct bases and more space stations around those bodies.

Nice! And I have seen a few other projects like this, but I decided to make my own, because I wasn't sure if any of the threads were still active.

None of them are active, but i'd love to help with a new one :D IT used to be so busy, we'd be booked for a full month of launches :D It was so cool....

By the way, clockwork13, could you give us some pictures of the station?

I added a pic of the station so far, containing 2 modules. Also thanks for the booster!

EDIT: Oh my. Just tested the booster and it has enough power to blast you out of the Kerbol system even using the most inefficient method on the planet (the one I used...)

If we were going to Laythe (which we may in the future), then this booster would definitely be a huge help.

Yeah, it's a little bit overpowered.

Awww, we're using EPL? :(

I've got no clue how to use that mod. But I suppose I could download it.

*cough*

I could also stick a Spaceplane Dock and 2.5 meter Hub Connector up. (As demonstrated in the pic)

*Note that they would not look like they do in the pic, it's just for a visualization.
