It's going well and is pretty cool, bit large for two people, plus them controls are very 70's/80's which isn't bad, I like retro :)

Been a while since we've seen a two-person capsule design.

That's certainly a way to keep the weight, and therefore cost, down.

Quite the opposite, while the ship may house 2 people, it is much larger then Gemini, Voskhod or even soyuz. It also weighs about 10 tonnes (a full soyuz weighs 6)...

I have no idea why they have done this, maybe they should have started with a simpler 1 man ship.

Maybe they have ambitious plans, such as Lunar, or HEO spaceflight

i notice that the "headlight" shape of the crew capsule happens to bear a good deal of resemblance to an early conception of the soyuz capsule from the early 1960s. i don't imagine the indian designers consciously sourced the idea from the soviets but it's interesting to note the convergence of good ideas for ballistic entry vehicles from different minds, decades apart.

They could visit Tiangong (mir class).

That won't happen but India can have it's own orbital station in the future. And if they are going to use manned spacecraft, they most possibly will have one. It's basically the square one for manned space exploration especially for a spacecraft with only a few days of life support.

Why couldn't that happen?

The Chinese and Indian space program is closing up to be in a race with each other (if they aren't already), not to mention the tensions between the two countries. Tiangong, as of now is a one module station and CNSA wouldn't let Indian astronauts work on it alone, even if they could. Maybe in the 20's when there will be a multi-module Chinese Tiangong in orbit and politics will allow it but chances are ISRO will have it's own experimental station by then. I don't say it's impossible but highly unlikely.

1. There is no race, just media sensationalism.

2. No one is going to T-1 anyway that is why I said the mir class station.

3. I doubt India would have a space lab by then considering the first manned launch of this ship is 2021.

Oh, I see. I didn't know where to put 'Mir class'. That's rather possible.

I wouldn't be entirely sure about that. There is co-operation but there is certainly a race in the background. The two doesn't contradict each other.

It should be noted that India began the process of becoming a member of the International Space Station as of January this year. No idea what that could lead to, but it certainly would dovetail with their manned spacecraft ambitions...
