Blender .dae export?

So i'm trying out Blender to make my first mod. I want to make a Solid Rocket Booster Pack. On the wiki it says that I have to export it as a COLLADA file (.dae). When I export it as a dae and try to open it, Preview says "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize." I know Preview can open COLLADAs because I have done it before. Can anyone help?

P.S. I'm on a mac

P.P.S Here's the error message:

It's simple: your computer doesn't know what program to open it up with.

If you're trying to edit the model, just open the .blend file or go into blender and import the file. You could possibly make collada files allways open in blender though.

If your exporting the model to unity, just drag the .blend file into assets. If you have problems with exporting to unity, just change the models file type.

Also why are you trying to open .dae's in preview? From the little research i've done, it looks like it can only edit pdf's and such.

Also here's a tip: dont trust the wiki, its outdated. Just go to the add on development section on this forum. Theres alot more info, tools, and people there will help you out with problems.
