question about the old caterpillar tread mod

i have this problem placing the massive mark five caterpillar tread. some of the attachment nodes wont let me snap them in to place when i attempt to place a copy of the mark five tread on to its own attachment node. the other nodes can place and light up green fine; the copied tread nodes on the front and rear cant snap to any of the nodes.

other mods and components place fine on those nodes so i thought maybe it was something to do with the 3D model clipping into the other model. visibly, the parts aren't clipping so im curious what the cause could be for rogue attachment nodes. allowing part clipping in the alt-f12 menu showed no change. im hoping this is a simple fix about common problems people run in to when making mod parts.

the mod was made by "Electronicfox" and "EndlessWaves" if that helps your memory. here's some snaps of the problem. rep points to ones who solve the problem!

use the new version

The new version does not support this track as the plugin can not handle two tracks in one unit. Otherwise great help there. As for the reason it not connecting i think it may have to be the way the attachRules withing the cfg file is set, attachment rules are 1 true, 0 false and in order are Stack, Surface Attach, Allow Stack, Allow Surface Attach, and Allow Collision. I'd play around with that and see what one will allow you to use the end points of the track unit.

actually that was the first thing i did i was curious how the cfg files work so i had a look at it and found those 1,1,1,1,0 so i changed the last one to 1 but still no fix. :/ its gotta be a simple attachment node problem right? it cant be too headache hmm

I think this may be an KSP/Unity problem and not a problem with the part. If you look at the stock Hubmax Multi point connector it doesn't like to connect in all orientations either. As I understand it KSP only reliably does connection nodes on one axis - anything with muli axis connect nodes is problematic.
