Number of Active Contracts

Is there a way to change the number of active contracts the game allows you to have?

I'm using Kerbal Construction Time so I have a lot of simultaneous missions going (FinePrint + Dmagic + Mission Controller ones too). I've got 14 active contracts with ships en route or waiting on a launch window. Only one contract is now available! But I want moar...

Also, is there a way to make more "Explore" missions available while I'm running some? I have "Explore Duna" and "Explore Ike" and it doesn't want to give me "Explore Eve"....

Install the fineprint mod. It adds tons of different contracts. I'm also fairly certain that the planet contracts go in a specific order.

I'd suggest you re-read the OP:

And what they're wanting is to have more active contracts, not just more variety in contracts (which from their plugin list, it sounds like they've got plenty of variety)

The fineprint config does set the maximum number of contracts of a given type that you can have E.g. I think the default maximum number of new base contracts is 2. You should be able to edit this to give you more fineprint contracts.

The station science plugin will give you some more contract types too.

I have a related question. In my Hard 1.0 career game, it says I can have only a max of two "active" contracts. But I see 5 contracts listed as "active." Are some more active than others?

They are probably the ones related to record speeds/altitude/distance, those don't count towards the limit

One more question: even after unlocking all levels of Mission Control, I never seem to have a total of more than 14 active and offered contracts. Is there a maximum number of contracts that you have can have active or offered at one time?

This was my original question, which was never answered. My guess is that there must me internal code that makes the max active contracts 14 :-(

As always, if not familiar with the stuff, backup the relevant file first.

Go to GameData\Squad\Contracts\Contracts.cfg, see there's a line AverageAvilableContracts. I already screwed up the value myself so I don't even know the stock one but that's the value you want to tweak.

Yes there is. I am away from my computer at the moment so the following is from memory.

In the folder GameData/Squad there are some config files and in one of them is the parameter that controls the number of contracts you can have. Sorry this is so vague but you will find from the folder, file, variable names it is not too difficult to track it down.

I have set mine to 25.
