Notifications when someone quotes you?

I think that it should be an option to be notified when somebody quotes your post on a thread. I always wonder if people have quoted me on threads, and It would be cool if you got a notification.

vBulletin doesn't support this, even though people have suggested it many, many times on their forums.

However, there is a plugin for it, but it doesn't seem to be well-maintained (last update was in 2010).

We may or may not be updating the forum software at some point in future to something completely different (depends how testing goes and so forth), but nothing's definite as far as I know at this point. Whether this feature is something that becomes possible then, well... I guess we'll just have to see.

But for now, as longbyte says, it's pretty much a dead-in-the-water feature with vBulletin. :/

I have no idea. I don't know if Kasper has any idea, but if he does he probably won't say anyway. Too many variables, plus they'll have to make triple-sure that the DBs can be cleanly ported over to the new software. They probably can, but I'm not aware of the specifics there.

But I can say it's looking pretty cool so far.

I've only ever seen mentions done on one particular forum software... it works, but it does seem a bit clunky for a forum. It works well in IRC or in short-message formats, but with a message board... I don't know, it just feels like a forced addition.
