Life Size Space Shuttle

Well... I have only made one flight, and the shuttle crashed. The only one giving strong results here is my laptop; it is reporting back at a "steady" 3-5 FPS!

Actually, the shuttle didn't crash on that flight, but it was inevitable. I've also made two other flights and they both exploded mid-air.

Okay... well this is how my most recent test went:

That's four on the counter. That said, I really suck as a pilot. Got to keep trying! #BringHerBack

Be careful throttling XD Nice job, thanks for attempting it. I got some time off work tomorrow and tuesaday, I might give it another try then.

Sadly, I can't get this to work in 1.0, I blame the drag and weight and lower TWR of the KR-2L engines. Nice showpiece though, and I can still say it did work, I have proof of that thankfully.

Sleep tight my dear, you are the greatest thing I've ever created.

This will always be remembered as the KSP Spacecraft Exchange's Spruce Goose or Buran... for it shared the same fate due to changing times. It deserves a museum. :) always will be a record keeper in my book.

Well played Zekes. Well played. She lasted, she blasted, she rested. RIP Life Sized Shuttle.

Thanks inigma, I'm sad it has to fall away and be forgotten now, I wish I could put it somewhere to remember it, otherwize It'll just become a lost relic among the KSP craft, and ultimately a worthless footnote in Gaming History.

Remember that game developers' most amazing feats are often perfect tiny modifications to code that no one notices. People noticed your ship, and you guys enjoyed it. I think that's all that matters, really.

Good night, Ridiculio 347 Hyperheavy.

That's true. It's always good to show a picture of from time to time though. And I never have to build another shuttle again, nor do I want to.

Why don't we start a thread for "old relics". A bit like a KSP Museum. A selected (possibly voted in) team of specialists would decide what significant craft might make it into the museum, and then compile them into one thread for everyone to enjoy and remember. What do you think zekes? Would you be interested? :)

EDIT: It doesn't have to just be craft either, it could be any feat in KSP that is worth remembering.

Hmmm, I like this idea. A sort of "museum of greats" - craft absolutely epic in size or scope but lost to KSP time.

Already got u covered Zekes in the showcase master thread.

True, but I mean a dedicated museum of incredible and groundbreaking achievements done in KSP. Much like a museum, it would only display really significant things, like the shuttle, and not everyday "groundbreaks". For example, the Sydney Opera House is an important part of architectural history, but your house really isn't. The SOH would be in a museum, but not your house (Unless of course it is quite a special house;)).

Some designs I can think of that I think would fit would be, obviously this shuttle, Azimech's stock turboprops, and your STS series inigma. If you know of any others....

Yeah, that sounds accurate. A stickied thread in off-topic or something with the biggest most insane pieces from KSP. My shuttle, maybe some other things I've built like the P1000 ratte or Queen Elizabeth Batteship, and maybe some of the older wonders, like I remember someone made rediculously large planes in .15 or .16, those were awesome because they launched vertically. And maybe that life size Saturn V someone made, it was epic.

I probs don't have enough time. Maybe we start a "Startup Discussion Thread" for it to see what people think. If you started it zekes, it would get more views. ;)

On it, people can nominate displays that have had a ground-breaking effect on KSP Designs. If we dig deep into the history of the forum that would be cool.

I think we need a team of selectors for the displays. We can put an ad or something up, with a few requirements like:

1. Must have a rep of at least 150 maybe? (So I can join :P)

2. Been on the forums for at least 6 months.

3. We add a poll to the thread, and anyone who meets the above criteria gets voted on. The top three get added to the list. Maybe a new "board selection" every month or two?

Anything else we should add? Maybe for the first board, we have myself, you zekes and inigma (if your interested) since we have all been discussing it. A selection commitee of a max 10 I think would be fine.

Back to school....

EDIT: What should we call our "museum". The Kerbal Museum of Technological history?

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
