KSC, all Kerbin Cities and launch sites just exploded. How are your Kerbals?

I have 24 kerbals in space, including that most valuable of resources: two female kerbals. This is a pretty small genetic base from which to repopulate the planet.

Plus...I'm not sure how many of them I can return to Kerbin, because they were lofted into space on SSTOs with the intention that these SSTOs (or new replacement ships) would be available to return them from LKO. I assume Kerbin is still the most hospitable place in the planetary system even after all of its cities have blown up.

I think I have enough landers and other ships in space that I could repurpose to returning my crews to Kerbin. It might be fun to try as a fantasy side story.

Interesting. Would you be able to get your Kerbals to meet back up somewhere? Perhaps in LKO or around Jool. A central base of all the surviving Kerbals to plan for the future?

Yep, and if not I have a duna base, a minmus base, and a mun base all with room for many kerbals (4 mun, 9 minmus if emergency rocket is included, 12 duna) I did not include them in the count. All of my ships have docking ports and I have two handy rescue crafts in orbit with rovers on them so I can launch to anywhere with nothing to worry about other than Jeb trying to land on Jool or eve. Oh and room for 6 kerbals on a station in minmus orbit so total is 56 kerbals in space.

I use TAC life support. I have no parts that make food, so I guess my Kerbals are all dead.

BTW any one know a mod that makes food for TAC life support?

Try the Modular Kolonization System created by RoverDude... USI MKS/OKS. :)

Assuming this cataclysmic event only takes out my EPL (Extraplanetary launchpad) modules & not the habitats I have attached to them, I have 25 Kerbals that will last about 25 years before the lack of spare parts will shut down their life support. I have an asteroid grab ship that might be able to siphon resources (using Regolith) to build more spare parts at my orbital facilities and keep them going longer...

If EPL is uneffected then the loss of Kerbin, while sad, won't really slow the exploration down much lol.

If the Habitats the EPL modules are attached to also get blown... well I have 2 kerbals each with about 3700 days of canned life support (really over stocked those missions) currently more or less stuck in solar orbits. I think they each have enough fuel to get to 1 planet & no equipment capable of safe atmospheric re-entry (DRE). One is the before mentioned asteroid capture ship and the other is a ship whos thrusters where still set to 2% when I went to make dinner. Still has his Xenon system but the 2 orange LFO tanks where drained & had him in solar orbit before I noticed. Just haven't figured out where to send him yet :P

EDIT:

Bob manages my orbital station & might live (assuming EPL loss doesn't kill him)

Bill is the pilot of the asteroid ship

Jebediah of course was in the mission ship I was planning to send somewhere I hadn't explored yet (which is about half the system) once I figured out where lol

My kerbals would be screwed. I'm currently assembling an OKS base in orbit to take care of long-term space presence, but I haven't gotten the machinery delivered so none of the parts are ready. Still, there's not a bad view of the non-functioning greenhouse from a science lab I just flew up:

There's 7 kerbals on board and they have 138 days. The machinery launch is in the queue but I think KCT needs about 25-30 more days. This is a 0.25 career game that I started fresh and the purpose had been to colonize the entire system as fast as possible while still using KCT. Turns out it takes a while!
