What is the LFB_KR-1x2 modelled after?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

So i have a question. In the 0.35 update, Squad released a couple of SLS parts that are modelled after real life rockets.

Such as :

The SLS Tank used in the new Space Launch Systems

The Engine Cluster, modelled after the Engines used on the SLS

However, what is the LFB_KR-1x2 modelled after?

I'm assuming that it is modelled after a real life counterpart, as it came in the same update as the SLS parts, and it's texture is similar to the other parts.

Please help me find out what is the real life counterpart! Thanks :)

There is a proposed liquid fuel replacement for the solid fuel boosters for the SLS. It doesn't exist yet, but if built, it will likely feature two modernized F-1 derivatives for each booster.

(Which actually means that the KSP part is inspired only in looks, not performance. The four RS-25 on the SLS block 1 main stage taken together would not even have as much thrust as one of these F-1b engines, and there's two of them per side booster...)
