C7 Strato-Bomber

Recommended Posts

This is just a fun design. A long range bomber with fairly precise release of its ordinance. (Just watch the tower on launch, it like to drift into it)

Cruising altitude: 45,000 m

Cruising speed: 2,350 m/s or 8460 km/h

Range: 31,500 km

In flight

Impact! (should have released while lower to get a better shot)

H\'mm.

It certainly looks effective. Say, you wouldn\'t happen to be free to remove an Anhinga from our test facility, would you?

(Also, you might want to list the mods you\'ve used. For instance, I don\'t know where those bombs come from, so I can\'t use your .craft.)

I can remove it in little pieces ^.^

The 'bombs' are NovaPunch mini boosters with nova\'s probe kit parachutes and radial decouplers. Everything else is from the latest C7 pack.

The aircraft has an incredible range especially if you put it in the upper atmosphere and the drogue chutes give the bombs vertical trajectory soon after released so it can be used as a high level bomber as well as low.

Also decided to name it the Strato-bomber. I\'ve included the specs that I was able to achieve with it in the first post.

OK, so release some bombs at 20,000 feet over the KSC. Tell us how long it taks them to hit, and whether or not they do. I\'m curious about the engine\'s rendering of debris in the lower atmo; missiles and runaway rockets always seem to disappear after 2,000 meters and never show up again.

I\'ve noticed a similar effect when one of my aircraft shook itself into two sections in the upper atmosphere. The lower section then broke into two more sections, one of which broke up entirely. The scattered debris rained down from the sky - but the two sections that had held together [not counting the part I could still control] disappeared.

Yeah, un-piloted craft more than ~2000 metres away that are in motion are deleted when in atmosphere. It really ruined the effect of the long-range bombers and truck-based missile launchers I built recently using the modular missiles.

Ah I didnt know that. So you can use the bomber to get anywhere in the world but have to drop to 2,000 (I\'m assuming AGL rather than ASL) to do a bombing run.

And then you have to stay within 2,000 meters until they hit the ground. :(

Tested it today with JellyCub\'s missiles. It\'s quite effective. Dove in on the target at ~45 degrees? I had 3 racks of 4 missiles launched in tandem so I had 3 volleys of 4 which put the full complement of 12 on target in about 3 seconds. Really big boom. The vehicle is responsive enough to pull out of the dive pretty quickly.

With the Nova\'s Probe Kit and radial decouplers can you give me the links to them?
