Spoiler Free?

I realize that at this point, it may be too late to be "spoiler free". But I was wondering how many of you will NOT be playing any of the updates from 0.90 till full release.

I would like to think I could seclude myself from any further news, but I really don't know if I can... because I enjoy checking the forums and watching streams. Then there's the inevitable question, "why would you want to be spoiler free"? I mean, imagine if there was no open access these past few years, and 0.90 was the first time you were exposed to the game.

btw, I pretty much expect zero people to say they are going spoiler free from here on out. Even if they said so I doubt they actually would.

I honestly don't understand why you should deprive yourself of updates. I can understand if you do not want to spoil update features by completely avoiding all related threads and videos, but why updates? Basically, you lose all tech support when a new update comes out - and you may not get some pretty useful bugfixes it contains.

A couple of update ago I tried to go "spoiler free", which worked.

But, due to not watching any info or other media on that release, I missed out on some information for the new features and didn't know they existed.

I only found out about them when watching youtube channels weeks later. So it does help to follow any information on each update.

What if the game doesn't develop in a way you like? What if, by the time of release, it has changed into something which you do not enjoy as much? You will have then have abandoned any chance of input, what littte individual customers have.

By 1.0 KSP might be full of wizards flying around on magic carpets with +50% ISP capes. That is if we all found a version we liked and put our heads in the sand until 1.0.

Agreed. As long as KSP is still interesting for me, I'm sticking around. And will continue to argue for more science like science until squad, or a super skilled mod maker manages to develope something like that. That said, I can understand people who want to wait- interest in a game comes and goes. Might as well be fresh for a new update.

While your analogy is fairly sound, I higly doubt that is Squad's vision of the game.

You seriously consider going with absolutely no KSP content, and only playing pre-0.90 versions until 1.0 arrives? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Mostly because the only thing I'd ever see as a spoiler in KSP anymore would be if they added new planets. I'd want to get there and land there myself, before watching someone else do it. But with anything else, I don't see it as a spoiler, since it doesn't spoil my experience of the game to know things ahead of time. I don't feel like there is anything to be gained from encountering the new stuff without prior knowledge.

Also: skipping the entire beta phase of KSP would seem more like a huge loss to me, than a gain.

Well yes, I do exaggerate for effect. Nobody was talking magic +50% ISP. There were talking about Jeb's super duper piloting skills granting +10% ISP to engines he was currently sitting upon. Community feedback killed that "boots of +10 ISP" concept. It's a good thing Squad decided to share that little development tidbit ahead of time, otherwise we may have been stuck. We are stuck with what I'm calling the "gloves of +10 science".

I had that same thought Albert, but I also think this is due to a lack of in-game pop up help windows. I mean the tutorials are OK, but we all know they are lacking. And maybe it's Squad intention for new players to learn mostly from the community. On the other hand they may be planning to code all kinds of in-game help for the final release.

Don't get me wrong, I discovered KSP at v.16 and I've loved playing along throughout it's evolution. But I also wonder what it would be like to come into it fresh for v1.0.

I think the science is justifed, a better scientist will be able to extract more meaningful data / conclusions than a less experienced one. ISP however, is based on the engine and not the pilot
