.90 fine print issues

Recommended Posts

ok, i'm loving this new version of ksp. the only issue i have is with fine print being assimilated into it. the case in point i have the biggest problem with is the "perform visual surveys of kerbin" part. i have no idea where zone MRZCX-Alpha, MRZCX-Beta, or Engineer's Glory is. and there's no map that i can find that shows exactly where the places are... so ...? why do i have so many missions that are literally impossible for me to complete? can anyone anywhere give me any information as to how to complete these tasks?

as i have unintentionally figured out my question, i'll put it up here in case anyone else had the problem. put on the cheats menu, add in the "view biomes in map" option, and go to the map. all the locations are marked for you there. i just wish i didn't have to "cheat" to find the places... -.-

Waypoints for available survey missions are supposed to be visible in the tracking station, and (I think) in the map view of launched craft.

If they're not, then either a) this functionality is only available in an upgraded tracking station, or B) you've found a bug.

Try upgrading your tracking station, and if that fails, please go to the support forum and report the issue.

Waypoints do not require any facility upgrades or debug trickery to see. They are available in the tracking station and the map in game. They are only visible if you are looking at the right celestial body, and they fade if they go behind the planet as you rotate your camera.

Also, yes it helps to click them in flight, as you can engage navigation to plop them down onto your navball.

I just played the game and i can see markers on the map (in map view by pressing M and in tracking station as well). you do not need to upgrade anything.

Also, if you click on these markers in map view, you can click "add to navigation" and then an icon will appear on the navball to show you how to get there....

You do not need to cheat and go into biome menu.

I didn't update to 0.90 yet, and I have a question for those of you who may already have maxed out a kerbal pilot.

Do the ground locations for the aerial survey contracts count as a target in the navball? If so, can you just select one and tell your kerbal to fly it to destination?

It would be pretty useful while using physical time acceleration, since aircraft (at least the aircraft that I make) have the tendency to get a bit crazy and point down even with SAS turned on.

Can you explain what that means in a little more detail? I stumbled across this option to "activate navigation" and have no idea what it does. It doesn't seem to affect maneuver nodes.

RE: waypoint navigation.

At least at my current level (all tier-1 buildings, level 0 pilots), activating navigation simply puts a waypoint "marker" on the navball, so you can see where you need to point your rocket or plane without having to stay in map view all the time. I don't think it changes manuever node functionality in any way, but that's something that can be tested once maneuver nodes are unlocked.
