Why would you ever use it on a Steam version?

The Launcher is not intended for use with the Steam version of KSP at all. Even were it to run, from memory it has been disabled and will not launch KSP.

i'm using it for Setting not for updating ksp.. easy set resolution and graphic setting..

Hmm, while it is far from ideal, you can change those settings from the settings.cfg file instead. Tread carefully, though; accidentally deleting parts of that file can have some, ah, weird​ results.

Fortunately, if you think you've broken something, you can delete the file to make KSP generate a fresh one.

yeah.. lately i update my ksp steam version.. clean install.. i run launcher to set ksp resolution to full screen.. then start ksp.. loading loanding loadin. . crash.. repeat 3x..

then i delete setting.cfg.. run ksp not launcher.. ksp back to normal.. xD
