Random Crashes while Playing

Recommended Posts

Ok, here you go. No player.log as one wasn't generated?

KSP started:

Then I did this:

I went to SPH.

Built something.

Flew it about for a minute.

Returned to SPH.

Loaded a new design.

Flew for another minute.

Returned to Space Centre.

Loaded VAB....

And it crashed/beach balled:

KSP.log (looks like it runs out of memory on scene transition):

Same problem here. It's constant. I won't stop building replicas or anything, but all of 1.0s new gameplay features are useless if I crash, freeze, and drop frames multiple times during a single Munar mission. This really needs to be fixed Squad, if 1.0 doesn't patch this you're gonna lose a lot of Mac players.

It is really disappointing to see this crippling bug so completely ignored. It ruined 0.90 for me, and it and the mountain of other bugs is souring me on the 'release.' I had such a great time on 0.23.5, back when I could play it on my mac. I had to switch to windows to use mods in 0.25 because the way the mac version handles memory is so inferior to the windows version, and I honestly gave up on 0.90. I was recommending this like crazy to all of our may users a couple versions ago, but now I can't, in good faith, until this gets fixed; it is just not a game that runs well enough on a mac to justify playing it on one.

I have have similar problems with a late 2010 MBP with a GT330M (soon to be replaced), normally the game is quite playable except for the research screen. It's near impossible to upgrade my science in career mode! I don't know why that's the crashiest part of the game (for me at least).

Hope this gets solved soon!

I've clocked about 120hrs on KSP on my 2013 iMac i7 8GB over the various iterations throughout early access. Having stopped playing it for a while I was excited to start again when 1.0 was released. Unfortunately I can't get through more than a few minutes without a spinning beachball or a crash back to the desktop.

I can't even provide a way to recreate the problem as it seems totally random.

So far I've got problems in the following ways:

Quit to desktop: most common, has happened 10 times in as many minutes

Spinning beachball: shortly after launch

Spinning beachball: after changing settings

Graphical: Grey "shadow" appearing between lines on the parachute

Graphical: white flickering

Graphical: white blocks appearing over the upper 1cm of the screen

I've tried deleting the game using steam, then clearing out the KSP folder under Application Data and reinstalling but get the same issue. I have no mods installed and I'm using the latest version (it says 1.0.2, which is odd since I thought we were only at 1.0.1)

I've had pretty much no problems during early access, so was surprised to find it completely unplayable now :(

Same problems here on my 2013 iMac i7. I couldn't get through more than 5 mins of gameplay until I set textures to half res. I've just played for an hour before finally it crashed back to the desktop.

I don't know whether I've played it since I upgraded to Yosemite actually so I'm not sure if it's got worse. To me it looks like a memory leak in the game rather than a problem with the operating system (a guess though).

How difficult is it to return to Mavericks ?

It'll be a right pain but it is possible - the main issue will be whether or not you kept a copy of Mavericks. There's a few guides on the internet on how to downgrade but I'm not going to link as I haven't tested any of them. If you bought your Mac with Yosemite already installed, do not downgrade - the drivers for your new system might not be included in the older operating system.

Personally I wouldn't bother for one game - if you're really keen to get it working now, a better option might be to Bootcamp Windows instead.

Hey mods, is this thread the same issues too? Looks like it - I'm certainly getting those graphical glitches too.
