Wanting to play through career with science, but I don't like tree progression order

I've been wanting to play through the career mode for quite a while now, but the only thing holding me back is the tech tree progression order. I really want to start with rovers, collecting science by driving or walking there, then move to planes and then rockets. I can't find any modded tech trees that do this. Sure, I could just edit myself that part of the tech tree but that would kind of make science useless for the beginning part of my game.

Making my own tech tree? Ehhh maybe.

I may just play through career as is, but I would really like to hear peoples' suggestions on what my options are for this.

maybe this is too tedious for you but if you want to you can make custom tech trees just by editing plain text part .cfgs (back 'em up).

it looks like:

...\KSP\GameData\Squad\Parts\Wheel\roverWheelS2\roverwheelS2.cfg

...

[somewhere near the top]

TechRequired = yourChosenTech

entryCost = 80085

...

for batches of ten to twenty parts it's realistic to do this by hand.

edit: seems you already mentioned this possibility in the original post? i don't remember reading that part. sorry, i try to read peoples' entire posts but i'm not always in top form.

Hi,

I had the same issue, which i sort of 'solved' by using 2 mods that intergrate rover and plane parts into the tech tree. If you install the mods and possibly delete parts of no intrested gives a tech progression of more like trucks->prop aircraft & basic rockets->jet aircraft->advanced rockets. Note not sure if both updated for 0.90 yet.

Modular MultiWheels - start tech can build truck style rovers, more advanced stuff spead over tech tree

Firespitter - Propopella aircraft at early tech
