make a set of parts with the size of the "old" mk3 parts

Recommended Posts

Yes, the new parts and the new cargo bay are awesome, but there are very big.

Seriously, there are the of the biggest parts of the game!

I'm not saying that the new parts need the be resized, but, right now, there is a very huge gap to fill between the mk2 parts and the mk3 parts.

What would it carry? The whole reason the old Mk3 size was scrapped was because it's dimensions barely allowed any different payloads than the Mk2 could. I think it's much more important to have some larger wings/landing gear to fit the large Mk3 parts.

I'm not only talking of the cargo bay: I have to admit that a cargo bay would not be extremely useful(but still, in career mode if you need have a cargo just a little too big for the mk2 bay(like a small mün lander).

Now, if you have to go far, you can only put a lot of mk-2 fuel tanks which would make the plane look ugly: the new mk3 size is just too huge to make a plane unless you spam engines and wings which destroy the advantage of a plane over a rocket for atmospheric travel.

While I do think that larger wings/gear are more important, an Mk"2.5" would be nice. Mk2 parts only allow 1.25 meters or smaller. You cannot attach things on the sides of 1.25 payloads in Mk2 like solar panels.

There is a Mk 2.5 in the stock game. Look in the fuel tanks section and you will find 'Mk3 to Mk2.5 adapter'

Then you just don't like the look of the Mk2? They obviously work for atmospheric travel and can easily carry a lot of Kerbals to another spot around Kerbal (1 cockpit + 2 crew cabins is already 10 Kerbals you can transport).

I like the look of the MK2, but sometime I just need a bigger plane for various reasons(e.g: putting a lot of fuel without making a very long plane or without using too much parts).

But now, the mk3 parts are just enormous.

A lack of fuel is more a result of the Mk2 parts being underfueled. The long fuselage are as long as one FL-T800 fuel tank and have twice the internal volume, but only carries as much fuel as one FL-T800 tank. Doubling the fuel in each Mk2 fuel tank would easily solve your issues of not having enough fuels (which is only a problem with SSTOs surely, as jet planes are so efficient they can fly around the planet on a single tank).
