A potato like rock ???

There are so many things wrong with this pic!

Usually opening the load craft window will close any pinned open part info windows and once the load craft window is open you can't display part info windows.

If the windows is pinned open then it should also have its more info tab open, but its not.

And what's the windows doing in almost the middle anyway. Only time I've known them to open away from the parts list is when you ctrl+click on a part on a loaded craft (and that doesn't seem to work in 0.90 at all), and clearly no craft is loaded as the command chair is un-selectable and there are no gizmo icons.

oh...yeah and then there's the text.....very odd.

That 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000C temperature tolerance is quite impressive. It could survive comfortably inside the core of the sun. Or in the core of a neutron star.

It seems we can now recreate the fabled North Korean mission that landed a man on the sun.

UUUUUUUUMM... I think somebody should look at the code... maybe he found, via glitch, an asteroids description, with a glitched render?

Yes.. it would make the most sense... manufacturer, the solar system... description of a rock... name of a rock... and I think a read somewhere that asteroids had insanely high temp resistance... 0 cost for something you aren't meant to buy... Welp, thats my conclusion. You found an asteroid!

Very low mass, though.

"A big ole rock" is the part file for the asteroids.

I did some experimenting with asteroids a while ago.

Thanks to those that have given real answers to this, though I equally appreciate the statements of shared baffled amusement! I nearly missed the weirdness of it completely because at first I assumed I must've hit RMB by mistake over the landercan. It seems something altogether more peculiar has happened.

If anybody else notices the same thing it might be worth bringing to Squad's attention, otherwise I think we can put it down to a random convergence of unseen events.

The mystery deepens!

I have managed to create a ship that totally breaks the spaceplane hanger. After loading it, the parts menu does not have icons. However, if you click 'sort by mass', suddenly they appear. Among the icons is an asteroid (which you can spawn into the hanger), and a Kerbal. If you spawn the asteroid, it has terrible textures. You can't spawn the Kerbal, but mousing over it causes it to rotate and irreversibly expand.

Curiously, I can't select any parts on this ship. Instead of highlighting green, they highlight blue as if I am creating an action group.

Here are some pictures!

Code is weird.

I think I just found out how to replicate this. When entering the VAB, before it fully loads, hover your mouse cursor over where the Mk1 Lander Can normally is. Spam the f1 key until the VAB is done loading and you may get a screenshot like this:

I second the North Korean influence on this topic... there cant be any other true explanation. We should consider a world wide conspiracy.

Yes its known as a kerbalite (BUG) sometimes when I'm in sandbox exspermenting I get ask if I would like to pay 170000 dv to repair my launch facilities. At first i was afraid to click yes thinking it might take the dv from me but allays it didn't. I would like to send that to the sun though it could bring allot of science and dv

Guys... *facepalm*

GameData/Nasamission/Parts/PotatoRoid/part.cfg

TechRequired = Unresearcheable
entryCost = 0
cost = 0
category = none
subcategory = 0

title = A potato like rock
manufacturer = The Solar system
description = Big ole, rock like thing.
attachRules = 1,1,1,1,1

It's a hidden part that is the part created when an "asteroid" spawns.

Also, since it doesn't really work when you put the part in a category and attach it to your rocket, many bugs will happen. Since if a config line is left undefined, the parser will assign a default value shared by all of the parts in case of undefined values to the undefined value. I'm guessing the lander can mesh and texture just happened to be the "default" one that was assigned to the asteroid as its "model" for the VAB

I just don't know why it happened to show up in your part list...? :P

My VAB/SPH is a little slow to load. When it's almost completely loaded, this is the screen that it displays.

wvcBf7i.jpg

Note the first two options, which appear to depict something very small, and a backwards Kerbal.

And behold! Right where the Lander Can is, you've got a potato-like rock!

When you're selecting the Lander-Can, you're probably selecting the thing that was briefly in that spot before the VAB or SPH was fully loaded, aka the Potato.

But why is the thing there, in the first place?

That's exactly what I see too. But now I'm curious as to what the KerbalEVA item description says. :P
