Copyright on image saves

Does anyone know what the precise copyright status is on any image we save in KSP. I tried to use an image of Jeb in orbit around Kerbin (not by his own choice...) on my CapitalOne credit card and they won't accept it. Must be something with copyright since Jeb is about as innocuous as you can get otherwise.

from the eula...

"(B) Backup Copies.

You may also make copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as may be necessary for backup and archival purposes."

Could you make the argument that the pic you captured is a backup copy of a licensed software generated object stored on the surface of your credit card?

Squad should comment on this.

I've tried using my own works to put on my cards (at least on 12 occasions) and they were rejected as well, so even if you had permission I doubt they would allow it. They also didn't even let me try to use zombies, sci-fi, horror, dark stuff, etc but they did approve a purple unicorn flying over a rainbow on my last attempt, but i didn't confirm to use it. I guess milage varies but I didn't have any luck, and subsequently gave up.

LOL - Oh you bread heads ^^

Jurisdiction and therefore legal opinion varies. Squad being a registered company *and the legal owner of KSP, trademarks, etc. etc.* in Mexico that 'should' - although I don't see it mentioned anywhere - be the prevailing jurisdiction for the rest of the world.

If you want permission you need it in writing from Squad.

De facto and de jure in most Western (European, Australsian, American, Japanese, most African, some Asian) jurisdictions Squad would own any pictures they publish, including in the software itself. You would own any other pictures you take usingthe software.

IANAL - but I Am A Judge (UK Magistrate). Seek legal advice before committing yourself - it's the only way lawyers can stay richer than their clients.
