Orbital Line Won't Turn Blue, Even in Tutorial

I don't know why, but even in the tutorial my orbital line won't turn blue so I can make a nav marker. It's always white no matter what I do. Any idea why?

Upgrade your buildings!

Until you upgrade your buildings certain features remain locked. Hover your mouse over the upgrade buttons to see what will be unlocked with each upgrade.

I don't even have any beginner contracts that show up in career mode. Don't know what is going on. I should at least be able to click on my orbit in the tutorial

Probably a stupid question, but which version are you playing? Assuming it's the latest version, it might be worth doing a clean install of KSP. You should at least get "Launch a new vehicle", "Reach an altitude record of 5000m", "Escape the atmosphere" and "Reach orbit" (I may have forgotten the exact names) when you start a new career.
