As this isn't solved I'm reverting the [solved] tag, I really don't know what causes this or the fix, as the workaround posted by rmbohanek hasn't worked for you.

There's another OSX Yosemite update, 10.10.5 which was released August 13th, it may have newer graphics drivers, also there is 10.11 (El Capitan), can you try upgrading to 10.10.5 first and see if it solves this?
