Forgotten things to do, and overlooked fun things.

I look around on the forums and something I see is that everyone is (usually) doing pretty much the same things. I was wondering what many of you have done to enhance your gameplay. Even any things that old KSP vets used to do, that no longer seem important (if there is such a thing).

I've been spending my time recently trying dock to a base on the moon with a tower piece I built. The rough thing about it is, it's a top/bottom dock. Meaning I have to land directly on it, and I'm playing stock controls (no mechjeb).. Makes for some interesting challenge.. lol

Also, just to enhance the presence in my game, I picked up this SEVERELY overlooked mod. It seems to make it much more enjoyable, having kerbals walking around looking like they are actually doing something. lol http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/93653-0-25-EVA-Follower-v1-03-05-Nov-2014?highlight=eva+follower It's actually functioning flawlessly in .90 as far as I can tell.

Duplicating real NASA missions in KSP.

Example, Minotaur 5 moon mission. If I build the upper stages as specify along with using the tweaked SRB, I have been able to land the probe on Duna.

Currently, looking at a NASA HAVOC mission using mods to design and build the airships needed for atmosphere exploration and an eventual cloud city base there. http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/23/tech/innovation/tomorrow-transformed-venus-blimp-city/index.html

I have also set up a challenge for KSP players to design their own HAVOC mission.

Go sight-seeing, there are some pretty places in the Kerbin system:

- Watch Jool rise from Laythe orbit (my personal favorite).

- Land on Duna somewhere where Ike is visible in the sky. Crank up the timewarp and watch it librate.

- Buzz the canyon on Dres at orbital speed.

- Go hunting for Easter eggs.

This is tons of fun.

I don't know why but I get a lot of enjoyment out of setting up Keosynchronous communication satellite arrays and bootstrapping my way out into interplanetary space.

Recently I sent two crews out towards Duna and Ike. I don't have the tech yet to provide comms out that far so both crews are essentially flying blind into the unknown, with a planned return date of around 1200 Kerbin days and 1450 days worth of supplies. I usually don't send anyone out that far before I have the tech to provide communication, it feels sort of bleak and lonely.

I love buzzing the tower at the KSC hangar. Guess the ATC had to ditch their coffee machines for a bunch of earplugs :)

Also, installing TAC, KW and MKS is fun. Still striving to make a career self-sustainable base on Minimus, and having a lot of fun with it.

I'm off to visit the northern mohole today,

I did have a crew that went there ages ago, but they disappeared in mysterious circumstances as their probe craft descended into the mohole and all contact was lost.

They never come back and the lander and rovers remain there as a memorial to them in the vague hope they may re-emerge one day.

Oh and booting all the fruitbat conspiracy theorists off our message board for claiming something called the 'cracken' ate them and will eat any ship/crew mad enough to descend into the mohole....
