0.90.0 Slow Load Time

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just recently installed 0.90.0 and it takes like 11 minutes for it to load for me. Compare that to 0.24 (which was the last version I played, as I had mods and stuff on that version and was too lazy to update to 0.25) which took about 2 minutes to load, even with about 13 mods installed! So I just wanted to post this to ask if others have had such drastic changes in the load times and if anyone might be able to help me out here. Thanks.

Could be a bad install. My version loads normally other then a 20 second before switching to the KSP load screen. The laptop it loads without that delay.

You may want to upgrade to 0.25 before upgrading to 0.90 Beta or download the ready to use 0.90 Beta.

I tried using a version that did not contain the Squid parts in order to force me to use only the mod parts and it did not complete loading. If you are upgrading from 0.24 directly to 0.90 Beta, that could be the cause of your slow loading issue.

My game's loading time is not that long, but it's certainly longer than it used to be. Squad should seriously consider improving the loading system now that the game is in beta.

But yeah, try upgrading from 0.24 to 0.25 first, as was said in the above post.

Moved to Support.

We'll probably need more information to be able to be very detailed in our explanations, but typically this is an issue that surfaces on Windows, especially when there are unused virtual adapters present in the system (for example, Hamachi, and some VPN services, will create virtual network adapters for their purposes). This is a Unity bug, and the only workaround is to go through and disable these adapters before running KSP.

(This is a reply to everyone, besides vexx, as I want to make a specific reply to him) Thanks for the suggestions everyone, though it still didn't help. I tried installing 0.25 and then using the patcher to update it to 0.90.0, and that all worked. But when I started up 0.90.0, it still took about 11 minutes to load. So I might just have to deal with the long load times, as after that the game itself still runs fine for me. I hope that in the next update Squad can work on improving load times for the game. :(

We'll probably need more information
So what kind of information do you need? Because I'd love to be able to find a fix for my problem.

So how do you do this?

It depends on your version of Windows, which would be part of the more information I mentioned. That's probably all we need right this minute, but if it turns out your issue is slightly different, then we'll need log files and so forth (details on where to get all that fancy stuff is in the Stock Support thread stickied at the top of this forum). :)

Anyway, the exact place you'll find what you need do vary according to Windows version, but you're looking for your Network Adapters. You need to find the Network & Sharing Center in Control Panel first (for me, on Win8, it's in the Network and Internet section), and then in the pane at the left, you should see a few options. One of them should be something along the lines of "Change adapter settings"; click that one.

It should take you to the Network Connections page. Listed there should be all network adapters installed on your system, each listing the network they're connected to, if any. Those not in use are typically shown with a colourless icon, if I recall correctly. If there are any unused ones related to Hamachi or anything of the sort, you'll need to right-click on them and select Disable.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It worked! It has never been so amazing to see KSP load in 3 minutes. :D I did experience some problems disabling the adapter, as it kept auto-turning back on, but I was able to find a way to fix that online. Seriously, thank you so much!
