I made a relatively simple cannon that'll shoot a probe-sized decopler about 1 1/2 runways. The decoupler shoots off so fast you don't see it accelerating away from the cannon. For some reason, every decoupler lands in the same exact place. The original used a single jet engine, but, this is KSP! Why not upscale??
