NATIONS/SPACE RACE/Multiple Monitors

Recommended Posts

I think it would be interesting to play this game against AI Countries, with those countries also engaging in space exploration. it would be nice to overlay nation boundaries and even cities (lit up on the night side) and be able to position recovery vehicles (Aircraft Carriers during the Apollo missions. . . ) to land as close as possible.

A few other things that might be aimed for - dual or multiple monitors, a more robust mission planning, mission engineering/testing and mission control.

Great simulation! Best I have ever seen. Highly recommended to my smarter friends.

And how exactly is the AI EVER supposed to keep up with a player in designing NEW crafts?

That's a rethorical question. It's not possible. AI can't make new ships.

This is one of those games that are impossible for an AI to succesfully do. To many variables

I think you'll find there are several games out there that have AIs that can make new ships from joining pre-defined parts together. Star Ruler and Sword of the Stars are two examples, although the latter has a lot fewer customization options than the former. It's certainly possible, just difficult to do in a way that makes the AI produce half-sensible ships that actually work.

Welcome to the forums, frankdenton!

I think better multimonitor support would be a great boon for KSP. Currently, the only multimonitor setups I've seen are either a single view spanning multiple screens (nice, but not overly useful) or use external applications or another instance of KSP to make multiple views possible, which is a bit clunky. In a perfect world, we'd be able to have multiple views simultaneously (e.g. normal view, IVA, and map mode on three different screens). Not sure if that's possible with the current game engine, though.

Nations are something I'm not interested it. I like that KSP is not a game of competition, that the only obstacles are physics and your ingenuity in working within them determines your success. I'd imagine there will be some competition once multiplayer comes out, though.
