KSP Loading Slowly on SSD

I'm running KSP version 0.90 (beta than ever and the problem persists from before this update) and the game takes a good 10 minutes to get to the main menu. Both the game and steam are installed on the SSD.

Specs

• i5 3570K 3.4 GHz
  
• 16GB RAM
  
• GTX 660
  
• Crucial MX100 SSD 256GB
  
• Windows 7 64-bit (On the SSD)
  
• 1 TB HDD

On the boot screen KSP seem to have dozen of small file pieces, is your antivirus scanning the files one by one?

Did you unzip it? Im not sure if its even possible to launch the game from zip, some small programs do.

Without mods this is to long for your hardware, with ATM compressing stuff or a ....load of mods 10mim can happen...

No, a 10-minute load is excessive under any circumstance, short of having an incredible amount of part-heavy mods and ATM running to optimise.
