Challenge: SCI-FI TECH

  • Hello everyone, I used the search tool before I posted this challenge. I am new to this game so I do not know if it has been done before. Please be patient.
  • is there a variable anti-gravity thruster (akin to the experiments Harold "sonny" White- Mach effect thruster, or Woodward's Quantum vacuum plasma thruster)?
  • That is what I am looking for; a way to represent in the game the possibility that Kerbus Kerbsend Brown, Nikerbalia Tesla, or other Rogue inventor invented such a device.

Side questions: not wanting to Necro:

  • Has anyone made a simple "U.F.O." ?
  • Has anyone mastered the robotics enough to make a transforming varitech fighter?
  • Has anyone made the MACROSS (*Sdf-1)?

how about "Safe Vtol"?

I have been experimenting with the mod "oblivion bubbleship and drone". I can use my fuel valve for controlling thrust (very crude) I can use "Infernal robotics" to rotate the engines, I can even fly with the control keys. my major problem is just that I have seen aircraft start rolling down the strip with 0 throttle, and not having pressed space bar. I can not seem to fine tune my trust for landing intelligently. it is as if friction doesn't work. it is as if I have two choices - Rocketing off, or falling.

if the only way to really land anything is limited to PARACHUTES... then this game is going to loose my support - fast.

Moved to Gameplay Questions because this... is more of a question thread than any kind of challenge thread.

As for the "aircraft sliding down the runway" thing, that's because the runway is a perfectly straight surface, but Kerbin is not. So, gravity and the very, very slight incline will tend to pull free-rolling things toward the middle section of the runway. I suggest you apply the brakes, either by holding the B key or clicking the brake button up the top of the screen where the light and gear buttons are. That also helps for slowing down when you land!

As for anti gravity, about the only one I know of is one of the lazors from the Lazor Powered Weaponry mod. It functions as a tractor/repellor beam, and you can mount them pointing straight down. No prizes for guessing how that could result in hover vehicles.

I guess you haven't heard of breaks then!!! Hit the B key or the break button at the top of the screen. Also pressing S applies reverse motion to the wheels which is great for slowing down if you have a top heavy plane and the break just makes your nose plough in to the ground.
