can't enter/leave buildings anymore

Recommended Posts

Hi all, new player here. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is, but thanks for reading either way.

Problem: I can not exit either the VAB or the Admin building in my primary game. Once I enter them it is impossible to use the exit button to click out. The other buildings are not affected. The problem does not occur in a newly created game. The problem occurred first building a rocket.

As of my last check, I was able to enter and leave the astronaut complex. But after doing this I was unable to enter any building from the space center view. The escape key no longer brings up the menu and the sound from the astronauts playing pool continues to play over the space center view. Some other game functions are available (debug screen).

Game exits immediately when the window kill button (X) is pressed.

KSP build id = 00705 2014-12-15_13-42-05 Branch: master

downloaded via steam

mods prior to problem: Kerbal Engineer and Jebmech. Both uninstalled now.

My system: AMD Athlon II x4, Geforce Ti560, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit

Playing in career mode

EDIT: I've read on here that there are a lot of issues with the 64 version of the game. I'm going to try telling steam to load the 32 bit version instead.

EDIT2: No, I'm just a moron. It isnt running 64 bit version. This is a link to the output log.

FIFY - well, the self-deprecation anyway. Since it isn't a 64-bit question and "The problem does not occur in a newly created game" I'd have to think it was a memory issue, but you say you have 8GB so KSP should have more than it can use. Before starting KSP, what amount of that is free? Having looked at the log file (^^ shoot first, aim later) all the end reports are bit miffed about your 560, which is a pretty old graphics card. On the other hand - KSP ran fairly well on the (really old) 8300 card that I had, until it cooked it, so I'd be surprised if it's a hardware incompatibility issue and there's nothing else to indicate that your system is incompatible.

FWIW, I think you're getting serious memory-leaks from Unity scene changes and might - but probably don't - have a 'bad install' (general IT advice along the lines of; 'unplug it and plug it in again').

Sounds like it's similar to an issue we have a fix for here. Do you remember if any of your kerbonauts died on the mission immediately preceding the incident, or if you fired one while you were in the Astronaut Complex?

I know this issue is solved and junk, but I've been having the same issue, tried the suggested fix and it got me partway there. Before I could enter buildings but couldn't leave. Now after modifying the persistent.sfs I have the kerbals who disappeared all sorted and I can now leave buildings... sort of.

So what I've been doing is modifying the .sfs like in the post and then loading up and checking my recruitment centre to see if anything's changed, but now when I leave I get back to the KSC screen but the lounge music is still playing, I can rotate the camera, but I can't click on any buildings and the "Exit" button in the bottom right is greyed out and I can't click it.

Should I make another thread about this or just stick this out here?
