Orbital Test Quests not working

Recommended Posts

This has been very stressful for me, and I am trying to figure out why none of them will work for me. If you may not already know, these are the quests where you must test a part while in orbit and within the Apsis numbers listed. For example: Test this Decoupler in Kerbin orbit. 81-112 km. I have entered orbit and I always activate the part while within the range of the apsis conditions, yet they never complete. Is the range strictly saying "these numbers must be the apoapsis and periapsis?" They are not worded as such, and the new satellite positioning quest do explicitly say those are the ranges you need, and i always fulfil those, but not the test in orbit quests. What is it I am doing wrong or missing?

you must be at an altitude between those two numbers, also, are you activating the part through staging, or by right clicking and run test? If you click the plus sign next to the notes it will tell you which you need to do. The part is neither required to function nor activate to complete the contract.

Not sure, but will just ask - You entered an orbit, and that part is checked off, and you activated it while your ship was inbetween the designated low high altitude? Apogee and Perigee won't matter on and in orbit and test at x height range, it's as long as you are in orbit and test at the correct altitude.

For your example, if you have a stable orbit around kerbin, and you activate the part while your ship is between 81-112km high, then you will see that part of the contract checked green and should complete it.

I have tried to activate it through staging. I am aware of right clicking the part and hitting "test", however... the "test" button has only been available for the atomic engines. Anything else and that button is not there, so I have no choice but to either A) Activate it through staging, or B) right click the item and activate it like that.

Neither of which fulfills the quest, even though I am at the correct altitudes it wants me to be in. Every condition is true, but never completes.

Could you post a picture of the contract conditions and where your testing?

Its easy to make silly mistakes, such as testing in the correct altitude range while in orbit, only to find out later that it was meant to be done in a sub-orbital trajectory.

Or in orbit of the wrong planet.

etc.

I know because I've done plenty of this myself!

I've built new craft and launched as soon as I picked up the contract. It wants me in Kerbin Orbit to test the LV1 radial engine. As soon as I entered orbit, I made sure I was within the specified altitude range to "test" the engine and it never occured. Every condition was true, I made no mistake. I reloaded several times, trying both to manually decouple my TT 38k thingy, and also through staging. There was however no "test" button. I don't even need a picture, I know what I read. :/ So far I've got no contracts wanting me to test parts around other celestial bodies other than Kerbin.

The LV-1 or the LV-1R? The radial engine is the LV-1R.
