need help: I want some contract that aren't flying or surveying!

Recommended Posts

No seriously, I only get contract of the type "test this part at this altitude and speed" and "survey the sector [name of the sector].

(of course, I have the usual "story" contract)

What can I do to have more diversified contracts?

Not only it get me VERY bored(I alway do the same thing and I can't even try the new types of contract that were added in 0.90) but also, I'm not good at these contracts.

thank you for reading!

It sounds like you're not opening up the tech tree. E.g. you should get satellite contracts once you've got enough tech to fulfil them.

(Possibly you have to have completed an orbit of Kerbin as well, I'm not sure on that point)

(And there's a known bug where satellite contracts are actually offered before all of the tech that you'll need is unlocked)

Your tech level determines the type of contracts you get.

solar panels or launch clamps will give you orbital sattelite missions, for example.((launch clamps qualify because they are a source of electrical power. Silly, but true))

How far you have gone out/ What you have done influences *where* the contract is.

You wont get a Jool mission, if you havent ever left Kerbin yet, for example.

Three key points define what contracts you get:

- What parts you have unlocked (I'm fairly sure it's actual parts, not tech level).

- What you have achieved so far with your space program, i.e. the most impressive milestone you have completed.

- How much Reputation you have. The higher your rep level is the sooner you get offered higher difficulty milestone contracts.

In 0.90 career mode, you might also have to upgrade your mission control building to see really advanced contracts like asteroid retrievals. But admittedly I haven't checked.

Also, unlocking the regular sized docking port node will open up station and base contracts. You might also need to do a landing on another body to trigger them, but I'm not sure about that.

Unlocking more of the science bits (thermometer, sci jr, etc...) also "seems" like it causes more satellite contracts to show up, but that may or may not be true. It does, however, diversify the contracts a little (as pointed out above) which is also nice.

Cheers,

-Claw
