Launchpad won't repair in sandbox mode

Recommended Posts

After an issue with one rocket blowing up the launchpad in Sandbox mode, I decided not to revert as the space centre mode has a button to repair the launchpad if it needed it. Unfortunately this won't occur, when I click on the launchpad, the button stays greyed out and the status of the launchpad states it isn't in need of repairs?!? Yet it clearly is destroyed with the rubble and the askew angle that the rocket is on when trying to launch.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Why isn't an option for indestructible buildings in the regular options menu, why is it only selectable when you start another sandbox campaign?? Why was destructible buildings the 'default option' for older sandbox saves. It's really annoying tbh. I've had this save since v0.21

You can set your buildings to be indestructible in the persistent.sfs, just look for and change this line to True:

IndestructibleFacilities = False

You can also check your launchpad in the save, for example look for these lines for the level 2 pad:

SpaceCenter/KSCLaunchPad/LaunchPadMedium/ksp_pad_launchPad

{

intact = True

}

It may be that KSP is keeping the destroyed model state, if you load a new sandbox game so the buildings are intact, you should find your buildings load correctly in your current save, as KSP keeps some building state variables globally rather than on a per save basis.

I just ran into a similar problem as the OP after rocket had a major failure on the launch pad, and the game crashed as I tried to get some screen shots.

In the persistent file the launchpad was marked as intact but the water tower was not, setting that back to true was enough to repair everything.

I put the craft files of the ships I wanted on my desktop then deleted the old save. I started a new game on easy (which has indestructible facilities) and then put the craft files back into the ships section. The complete directions on windows 7 are: [start button menu]>computer> STORAGE (J:)>Games>Kerbal space Program[your version]>saves>[Your save]>ships>VAB
