Bug report

Not sure if this is the right subforum, but we are in beta and I have found a way to reliably break KSP.

There is something about the ship that I'm currently trying to build that consistenty breaks KSP. When I go to launch, it shows the rocket way up high, then on the ground, then it disappears and the only thing left is a hazy blue background. It will not revert, or go to space center. The only way out is a hard coutoff from task manager.

When I reopen KSP, all my current flights are gone (!).

I restored from an earlier backup, deleted ALL my ships, built a little bitty one stage ship to establish some kind of baseline and that worked fine. Built my new ship from scratch, did not save it (let system do default save) and when I go to launch, the sequence above starts all over again.

I've been through this 4 times now and can reliably reproduce it. Is there a log/file/debug I can send that would be of help? I don't know what specific component is hosing me and honestly even when I find out, I don't want to post it publicly. (I do NOT want to step on any toes of our hard-working mod community. I'll let HarverseR do that

Again, if this is an improper post, please advise proper procedure for bug reporting.

Please have a read over the stickied threads in this section, particularly the Stock Support and Bug Reporting Guide, so that we can figure out what's going on, and if it indeed is a bug.

Good deal vexx. I have almost certainly isolated it to an add-on. I'll have a look at the guidelines to see what my next step should be.

It is certainly not HarvesteR's job to report bugs to modders. I imagine this thread will be moved to the modded support subforum quite soon. Do not worry about stepping on the toes of modders, reporting bugs (when done in a decent and reasonable manner) will not upset anyone. Once it has been moved I suggest you check out the "How to get support" sticky thread in that subforum for details of other things you can try and what information will be needed to help you (e.g. system info, mod list including version numbers, where to find the output_log.txt/player.log file etc.)
