What is "Project V"?

Never thought that Squad would cave to the ridiculous public pressure to have "females" of an alien species that could have been hermaphrodites for all we know.

Cheers to the community for pressuring Squad to waste their time on a non issue.

Can't wait to see how horribly unoptimized they are as well.

Because the first thing a game that is unstable for at least 30% of players due to RAM limits needs right now is more assets. Also, should I start the push for trans-gender Kerbals now? I mean, equality and all... don't half ass it when you can go all the way.

Great news! Girl kerbals are a wonderful new addition! I'm really glad Squad is adding them to the game now, instead of leaving it as an afterthought. Some people here may disagree, but I personally think that women are far more important than a new aerodynamics model.

I do hope they consider the velociraptors too, though.

The names, though made-up mishmashes, have all been distinctly male and of English origin. That's good evidence the Kerbals we've had are intended as male.

So what? Are any of us so short on imagination that we can't fathom an alien culture having a naming convention that violates our narrow sense of gender boundaries? Heck, if it's an issue, you can just throw "Sue" into the table of random names and be done with it.

IMO, the lack of "female" Kerbals didn't speak of there being anything wrong with the game, it was the complaints about it that spoke more to our obsession with gender and gender roles as a culture.

Even the old firework launches Harvester did as a kid had female Kerbals. Kerbals are humans, just seen through a different lens.

It really is an issue, too. Every time I've shown a female teacher or friend or even my grandmother Kerbal Space Program, they all eventually remark about how there's no female Kerbals. Some have even been put off by this, though that's their problem.

Just don't change your mod's name to Better than Female Kerbals when you add Van Allen belts :P

In about an hours time (as of time of writing) here.

I'll be sure to get a Summary up :)

Valentina. Anyway, that's what I thought when I first thought of female Kerbals confirmed. I can't believe it took me so long to realize female-kerbals confirmed could be Valentina. I was thinking about Volcanoes and Voices at the time. Then Max said it was a very important name and I was sure it was female Kerbals.

We'll not have any gender arguments please guys and gals, you know female Kerbals have been asked for for a long time, well now it's happening for real :)

Well how about the other things that are actually substantial to the long-term health of the game (ie optimizing existing assets before piling more in there)? We get fluff and are supposed to treat it like they gave us a new solar system to explore or something... hooray? Sorry for not faking any enthusiasm when there are more critical things they should be working on. I for one could care less if Kerbals have a gender or not, they're not people, why should it matter? Can you really tell the difference between a female and male cat or dog without checking the obvious? They could literally just add female names to the database and spend five minutes and then get back to work on actual important things.

We'll release the pictures when we're ready for it :)

I know you guys like keeping secrets. But it could have been a secret easter egg hunt for an hour or so. Not tell anyone about the account. Not release any images except for the profile pic.

Might not've even been found.

The way I see it, Kerbals are the manifestation of a quick drawing of a human.

They vaguely resemble humans, but of course they're not perfect. Just think of them like a really detailed stick figure. :D

In other words...

That's me. That's you. That's (mostly) everyone who has been, is currently, and will be in existence.
