Well the original was released when I was but 3 years old so I don't remember it. However I have heard wonderful things about it and am looking forward to playing, shame it is unlocked on stream at FOUR ACLOCK IN THE MORNING! Grumble grumble

gotta love steam.... I refuse to buy it until GBX releases a DRM free version as the multiplayer is at beta. pretty much the whole game is an early access. Plus I have played the originals since I was a child and still have the CDs

So far the game has been a buggy mess with a bad control setup (who uses the arrow keys to move around in free cam, and why the heck does esc not bring you to the menu. I'm having to rebind everything) and ship ai so bad they cannot dodge slow moving asteroids or even hold formation. Never owned the originals myself before, and those may have been the better part of my purchase. Hopefully the multiplayer and/or modding community will be good, but I think for now my RTS of choice will still be Wargame Red Dragon.

The price is only like $34 on Steam. The collectors edition was about $100. The combination is more than simply the sum of its parts here. There are definitely a few bugs to be worked out, but for Noame117...welcome to the Homeworld series. That's what it's like. The escape part I agree is annoying and confusing, but the rest of it is their control setup. I've personally never had any issues with it and once you play with it for a few missions of the campaign, it becomes pretty intuitive. For ColourOfFire, Gearbox has made it pretty explicit that the point of doing the Remastered version is twofold. The first is to put the game(s) out on Steam, the second is that they are using it to decide if they think a Homeworld 3 is economically viable. zgrillo2004, the game itself is not early access, ONLY the MULTIPLAYER is. This is because they had to completely redo the entire internet play system. Originally they used GameSpy which is now defunct, so they had to replace it (which I hear from the devs was an interestingly...lets just call it an interesting experience. hah). As they get in bug reports and such from the internet play they will be making adjustments and may redo the multiplayer deathmatch system to find what is enjoyable for the players.

On the whole, I am quite happy with it, the balance between HW1 and HW2 races is pretty nice.

I got the original HW,HW:Cataclysm & HW2.

Now I got the collectors edition.

Very happy as it feels very strange & fascinating playing the Kushan vs the Vayger or the Hiigarans vs the Imperial Taiidan, although the Hiigaran battlecruiser are a class that didn't exist in HW & so far wreck the taiidan

Also playing the campaign of HW,hope the kadesh missions are a bit 'easier' now.
