The future of Squad?

That would be Kerbal Burlesque Program and banned in Australia, but a deep sea exploration game would be awesome, develop and build submersibles, explore caverns, harvest from sulphur vents, research aquatic life, sounds like a good game :)

Kerbal Sea Program? I'd buy it. in the same vein as Space Program, but you explore the oceans, and start off with scuba diving equipment in career.

I wasn't saying you were, I was genuinely curious if you meant what I meant. I would love that game. Kind of a mix of spore, sim city, any kind of tycoon, and KSP. It would be glorious. :D

Yes, I believe we are thinking along similar lines with our ideas and I believe it could easily be done if Squad so chose to do it. Kerbals are fun characters and could have gave experiences beyond the space program. I would really love to see a colonization game where you have stranded Kerbals who have to do it all from the resources they have on their new planet-home and the stuff they brought with them. You could not only have a KSP-Spore-SimCity-Tycoon feel, but with the familiarity of the KSP platform.

I believe that one of the things that has made KSP so popular among its users is that the game can become whatever it is you desire it to be, within reason. I have seen what people have shared here, on STEAM, on Facebook, and on YouTube - some are just fine with aircraft, never venturing beyond Kerbin's atmosphere. I have seen some that simply enjoy designing and launching space stations and having a space program that just meets the needs of maintaining the station. There are others that enjoy making monster starships and exploring the Kerbal galaxy. And yet, there are others that seek to colonize every planet and satellite that exists the Kerbin solar system. KSP accommodates them all! Very few videogames are able to appease such a large audience.

Squad definitely has big ambitions and it probably won't be a while till they move on from KSP but on the day that they do I wonder if they can enter a sort of survival sim (well KSP can be considered survival in some occasions)

Maybe they could go and build an MMO without building the terrain. Talking like a terrian generator (Like in minecraft, but with no digging and smooth terrain), plants that grow, can be harvested and produce new plants. Same with animals. Then focus a lot on having a few factions and encouraging building factions. You could build anything from a small gang of thugs roaming the landside to a giant nation with 1000+ players united. I dont think permadeath would be a nice idea, as people are to scared of other people and will shoot on sight, but there should be penalties to dying. If the would could be generated and it could be one single big server it could be nice (Of course the "Megaserver" would be split into smaller areas where you would load parts of the megaserver like the chunk system in Minecraft and each region would have its own megaserver). What do you think?

I'd love to see the Kerbals featured in games of a variety of genres, each exploring a different period of Kerbin's history and each with the same level of depth and originality as KSP... build an empire in the early days of civilization, or manage a city during the industrial revolution, or design your own castle and defend it against invaders, or command ship and crew in the age of sail. Any one of those would be fantastic, and an excellent opportunity for Squad to bring their talents to a new arena and show how a particular style of game can be done better than ever before.

I would enjoy seeing them either expanding the Kerbal universe (earlier/later tech, more planets, other solar system, etc.) or doing a KSP 2 in a newer engine. Take everything that makes this one good, put it in a newer, more stable and efficient engine, add better models, better effects, and just more overall exploration (maybe random galaxies with random anomalies/points of interest to find?)

Now that the game is "basically" finished officially, I hope to see this experience of creating KSP in the future for a second game of the same type. Probably a KSP 2 with more in depth game play and strategical, economical and scientific depth then the current KSP.

Let's be honest, KSP as at it is, was a great idea and I am proud of owning and play it. But in terms of game play it is a bit "naked", if it was not for the wonderful community of Modders, the game would become pretty boring quick.

I think the devs should be proud of what they achieve in KSP, and maybe, just maybe in a year or two we will see the next modern KSP 2 with much more in depth space exploration and science endeavors.

I always felt that one component was missing on KSP. A Engineering area where parts research should be built with materials studied and collected from space exploration. Instead of having reports here and there, goo stuff tested, points spent on science, this should be done in a more deep way, where research takes time and several materials could be studied on Kerbin, or in Orbit depending the case, to build and test new materials to make new parts.

Also, a more economic system would be great.

In any case, I do hope for a KSP 2, more realistic, better in terms of graphics, physics and even more important, game play and strategic thought.

Kerbal Air Program. Kerbal Water Program. Kerbal Ground Program.

Just keep upgrading KSP to add these in!

Air is easy.

Ground just needs a load more parts.

Sea would need a hydrodynamics overhaul and water themed parts.

I've made all of these in KSP plenty of times (even a submarine!)

I would totally shell out some cold hard cash if Squad put together some DLC. Like large planet packs, or extra Solar systems.

(yes yes i know their are mods that already do that, but something official, well fleshed out, and stable, would totally be worth the cash to support such an awesome company)

Being a developer myself, I personally think Squad will NEVER abandon KSP. This game is way too huge and successful to just dump. People love KSP, it has gained very big attention. I DO NOT think KSP will ever get a "sequel". We can dream of a "KSP" sequel with CryEngine graphics but that will probably never happen. I DO think they will continuously update this game. New parts, graphical and physics improvements, new planets, new places, I'm sure it is all coming. This game is also so hardwired into the mod community that even if SQUAD left, it would still live on.

I personally do not think SQUAD will make another game either; as some of you said, they are a marketing company more. But who knows; I think they should but it will have to be very interesting and fun.

I'd like to see KSP become a thing that just continually evolves, and getting more content and updated and refreshed until eventually (get this) it's actually galaxy sized, and online, so people can visit other peoples solar systems and set up Kerbal trading.... Some kind of evolving tech, so as your Kerbals get more advanced scientifically they have access to more advanced technology, warp drives etc.

In other words, I'd be quite happy if SQUAD and the KSP devs just concentrated on refining and making KSP more betterer.
