Save system overhaul

Recommended Posts

After few hours in photoshop, this is how I want the save dialogue to be like:

  1. Preview image in load dialogue window. Automatically generated but can be manually set (Like how it works in Space Engineers). Bigger preview before load. (preview were saved as image to prevent performance hit)
  2. Vessel categories & filters. You can set your vessel type when save it, change it in flight is possible. Filter certain types of your creation in load screen is also possible. Option: you can add custom category with customizable icon & category title & description
  3. Tags & tag filters. You can set tags of your ships, search certain tags or filter certain tags in load screen (search & filter are not shown in the image)

I like it, especially the sorting option. I'm not sure how the preview would work. We are talking about an open ended sandbox building environment. How does it know what angle to take the picture at, or for that matter, where the front is?

Or perhaps that would be something the user would take themselves? This is further complicated by the craft file restrictions. There are advantages to keeping them text-only, it makes them easy to share.

Tips.

1. One thing I would add is to make sure it warns you before overwriting something with the same name.

2. Get rid of the rocket icon on the right, it's kind of superfluous. Instead, that is where the vehicles (sorting) class should go.
