Quicksave system

I've seen mentions of a "quicksave" system and was wondering what it is. Is it a way of saving your progress mid-flight? Right now when I crash I just revert flight, but it is pretty frustrating when you land on Mun and crash on reentry:sticktongue:. How do I use this "quicksave" system? Please Help!

Press F5 to quicksave, Mod+F5 (Alt/Rshift) for a save menu.

Hold F9 to quickload, Mod+F9 for a load menu.

Sirrobert, while your statement may be true, I have to say it comes across to me as a bit condescending. (I assume you did not mean it that way, but writing has no body language, facial expression, or tone of voice to act as additional cues.)

I can't speak for the OP, but I for one am not really a Gamer and don't generally know ANY keyboard shortcuts to ANY game. If it's not in the GUI it may as well not exist for me. And there is nothing intuitively obvious about any keyboard shortcut anywhere; they all have to be acquired through rote memorization. If the OP doesn't game outside KSP, s/he won't know these things.

Apparently this is a common computer-gaming convention, that F5 and F9 are keyboard shortcuts for Save and Load in most games. That's good info to have, and I'll try to keep that in mind if/when I get seduced into some game other than Civ and KSP. So, thanks for that. I learned something new (as I suspect the OP did as well).
