Noob Moonbase - Some Questions

Recommended Posts

hey,

Sry for the bad english^^. Some questions:

1.

I want to build a moonbase, some "Houeses" are a little bit separate. So they are not docket with Tubes or similar stuff. I need more electricity so i want do build some solar panels. BUT how an I link them to the base complex? Can i do that with radial connector points and strut end points?? or do i need pipes?

2.

How can i build a flexible arm with a claw at the end? i need one at space stations and a modified one for an rover near to the base. THE CLAWW!! ;DLike this:717923main_iss011e09878_226.jpg

You may be interested in Kerbal Attachment System

I strongly support the use of KAS. It makes all sorts of things possible.

Also, for the claw, you might want to consider Infernal Robotics. They have a variety of hinges and rotors that can be used for stuff like this.

thank you all for the quick response.

yes i already got KAS :) and other mod

So ... pipes or sturts?? i will read the guide tomorrow^^ :D

That infernal robotics looks useful. I saw something like the nasa arm in a YT Video. They used it to move havy parts at a base :o

Infernal Robotics is just what you need for a functioning arm. Put some of the KAS magnets or claws on the end of their winch, and you can do anything!

I used to to remove spent fuel tanks that I used to land with. Pulled the engines off the sides, took them back to Kerbin in KAS boxes, and kept the tanks there for fuel storage. Another lander used KAS to full them back up with fuel at the base.

Radial Connecter points are fine yes. The links between that only have a limited lenght, but you can link multiple pipes tougether with ground pylons.

They'll still be docked, otherwise they can't share power, but the only visual confirmation of that would be a pipe running along the ground

If I remember rightly you can't connect two different ships with KAS struts. You can with KAS pipes. Not sure about the winches and connectors.

But if you haven't launched yet, it might be better to just give each building its own solar panels.
