Should I get B9?

I read about B9 Aerospace, and I am wondering if it will add too many parts. My Utility tab is already huge, and all I really need are some more jet engines and command pods. Does the mod add any more part sizes (like the 2.5 m parts or the Mk2 fuselages)? I don't want to have too many parts in the menu, and want low lag. Is there a wiki or a part list for B9? I want to know if this mod is "overdone"(too many parts).

B9 adds the HL parts (which are very similar to the new mk3 parts), the HX parts (which are half the size of the VAB), some the MK2 parts, and the SH parts, which are like smaller HL parts. All are spaceplane-oriented parts. As for having too many parts... The pack is downright enormous. I would highly recommend adding a part search mod with b9. Though I think that the author does say that the pack is designed to be a bit too big, and to delete parts that you feel like you don't need.

S2: 2.5m octagonal section parts ( I like those )

HL: this is what the new Mk3 parts were based on, the Mk3 used a reference model from B9 so they're compatible shapes

Mk2: the original profile mk2, so not compatible with the current ones.

HX: enormous parts for stations & ridiculous ships, never managed to use them

Also random structural parts which I generally don't use, and a pile of engines and utilities I very much do use - the pack is worth the download just for those.

B9 will clutter your part list! Really! And if you want to build space planes you'll have to get it.

It's so much that I usually at least remove the HX sized parts (just delete B9_Aerospace\Parts\Structure_HX). You'll probably also need to install ATM if you already haven't done yet.

Without HX parts B9 adds 6 plane cockpits of different sizes, 1 inline probe sized 2.5 m, one manned and one unmanned orbital command pod (perfect for tugs!). It also adds 4 different jet engines, 2 RAPIER-like jet/rocket engines, 2 VTOL engines (LF & LFO) and and a low-profile orbital rocket engine the size of the LV909 (but much lighter!). Most parts are in the structual tab and have several options you can switch between via context menu.

Well, you can always remove some parts from B9 if you don't need them. I just prune away the whole HX + MK2 parts with a bunch of jet engines, since I don't use them much.

I did the same. There is a bunch that not of use to me, but a ton of other things that really are. I make boats out of alot of the stuff.

What are some examples of stuff, say, in the Utilities tab or the structural tab? My Utilities is CLUTTERED!

There are a few version of a streamlined ladders, a really cool looking docking port, a bunch of different lights, 4 kind of landing legs...and I think that is it. Loads of stuff in structural though, since that is where most of the body parts of the crafts are located.

The main issue you have to watch out for is memory usage, B9 has a tendency to be a memory hog. If you're running Active Texture Management, then this is minimized quite a bit.

ATM is a must with B9 in my opinion. And B9 is also a must in my opinion.

But, like many others, I have pruned my B9 folder down to the essentials I use. I kept the S2 parts and Mk2 parts but deleted the HL and HX parts. I also have procedural parts so I've deleted anything that crosses over (mk1 parts, decouplers, struts, etc). Since I use Adjustable Landing Gear, I also deleted all the landing gears. And now, since B9 has procedural wings out (which are awesome) I have also deleted all the wings, stabilizers, etc from B9.

It will also reduce the performance of your stock jets, so if you have designs that rely on those to perform their functions, you'll either have to remove the "B9_Aerospace-Squad_Jet_Balance.cfg" modulemanager config, or redesign the vehicles.
